Product FAQ
Can I use the Tapt to replace a 3-way switch?
No. This is a single pole switch and neutral connection is required. Tapt is not intended for replacement of 3-way switches.
What should I do if there is no neutral wire in my gang box?
If there are no neutral wires, Tapt is not compatible. Do not proceed with installation.
What is the maximum amperage, wattage and voltage that Tapt allows?
15A, 600W, and 125V.
Is the Tapt compatible with the Link Hub?
Not at this time. Tapt may be paired to the Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2 and the Wink Relay.
What do the different Tapt configurations in the Wink app mean?
There are 3 configurations for Tapt - Smart, Default, and None. Smart Configuration - This should be used when you have a smart bulb, or light fixture with multiple smart bulbs, wired to Tapt. In this configuration, the power is always on. Tactile on/off switches control the smart bulb wired to Tapt, turning the smart bulb on and off without cutting power to the bulb. You can add additional smart bulbs and groups in the Wink app - go to Tapt settings and tap on “assign lights.” You can dim the smart bulbs/groups by holding the top or bottom button to dim up or down. Dimming levels can be set in the Wink app - go to Tapt settings and tap “dimmer settings." Default Configuration - This should be used when you have a standard bulb, or light fixture with standard bulbs, wired to Tapt. Tactile on/off switches control the light load wired to Tapt, switching the power to the light on/off, just like a normal switch. Also, the lights wired to Tapt can be turned on/off in the Wink app. Use “Tapt Light” in the “Lights + Power” section of the Wink app to turn the light on/off. Like the Smart Configuration, you can add smart bulbs/groups. There is no dimming to the wired standard light, but dimming works on smart lights. None - Use this when a light load is not wired to Tapt. This is similar to the Smart Configuration, but without power always on. This configuration never turns on power to load line.
