Product FAQ
How far away from my Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2 can the Kwikset Deadbolt be installed before I begin to lose functionality?
The official range of Z-wave is about 300 feet, assuming you are outdoors with a clear line of sight. However, once walls and other household items come into play, the range tends to decrease due to loss of signal strength. Officially determining range is tricky business, as it is usually on a case-by-case basis, depending on your ecosystem's environment.
What is the best way to prevent unauthorized entry?
This lock can be opened with two different codes that are randomly set at the factory. Upon installation and set-up, replace both of these codes with your own. Since anyone with access to the power board can change these codes, you must restrict access to the power board and routinely check both codes to assure they have not been altered without your knowledge.
What if my lock is connected to my Wink account, but I cannot control it through my app?
If you lose control of your lock through the Wink app, replace the batteries in your lock. If it still is not controllable, unplug the Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2 and plug it back in. Let the Hub boot back up, and try to control your lock. As a last resort, remove the lock from the Wink app and re-add it back to your account.
What if my lock is showing the wrong status?
If your lock is connected to your Wink account, but is currently showing the wrong status of the lock, manually change the state to get them back in sync.
How do I factory reset my Kwikset?
Remove the battery case from the lock then hold the ‘B’ button and re-insert the battery case, continue to hold the ‘B’ button until the lock beeps twice.
Can I manage my user codes through the Wink app?
While it has many automation features within the Wink application, the Kwikset Smartcode deadbolt does not have the ability to set individual user codes through the application. You still have the ability to unlock and lock your door with a simple swipe, and set up notifications to let you know when your door is locked or unlocked. You also have the ability to lock your door using a logic-based robot, as well as trigger other connected products when your door is unlocked or locked.
How does the lock connect with other products?
The Kwikset 910 Electronic Deadbolt speaks Z-Wave back to the Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2. The Hub uses Wi-Fi to wirelessly connect to your router allowing you to control the lock over the internet via your Wink app.

Using Wink
Sign Up
Open the Wink app on your mobile device and log in with your email address and password. If this is your first time using the Wink app, tap Sign Up to create an account.
Add Product
Tap "Add a Product," then tap "Locks," then tap "Smartcode Deadbolt." Follow the instructions on the Wink app.
Pair
You'll be on a page in the app where the "Next" button is greyed out, leaving you unable to continue further into the pairing instructions. This is where the Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2 broadcasts its pairing signal. Make sure the Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2 is blinking a blue light, then tap the "B" button on the lock to pair (the button in the upper-left corner under the battery casing). The Wink Hub / Wink Hub 2 should emit a long flash of green light to indicate successful pairing. Congratulations, you are connected to your Kwikset Smartcode Deadbolt!
